May 2023 Strait Shores Creative Update

It’s been just over a month since we launched Strait Shores Creative. Here’s an update:

It can be daunting starting a business from scratch, making new connections, and getting “out there” but we are off to a great start. We really enjoyed participating in the Port Elgin Farmer’s Market earlier this month, we met some fantastic people and learned about businesses we never knew about. We’ve added them to the business directory and urge you to check them out.

Taking part in the Farmer’s Market was a great opportunity to get feedback about our products and services and we are making changes thanks to your recommendations. A sincere thank you to those who came to say hello, introduced themselves or purchased art products. We plan to return to the market this summer. In the meantime, we are happy to take on the role of Treasurer for the market and hope to be able to support its growth as it heads into its second year of operations.

A good part of the month was spent developing our product line. This includes art items like canvas prints, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive hundreds of likes on two of our social media posts featuring this art. This helped launch our new social media channels, thank you for taking the time to like and share those posts on our facebook and instagram. It really makes a difference for small businesses like ours.

Speaking of products, we continue to test several new offerings including herbal products for home and body. Last year we completed a herbalism program and are eager to bring you these natural products but first, we need to make and test these natural products ourselves as part of our "quality control". Next month we will be releasing the branding for this new initiative so stay tuned!

This week we will be attending the The Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick Literary Soiree to celebrate placing first in the Douglas Kyle Memorial Prize for short fiction. Writing is a key skill in our consulting work but sometimes it’s nice to write purely for creative expression. We are very eager to learn about the other writers at the event and enjoy their work too.

A final reminder, our business directory continues to grow, and this will remain a free services for businesses and makers in South East New Brunswick. Let us know who we should add by emailing: info@straitshores.ca

We have updated the outcome of our first ever giveaway which you can view here.

We plan to have more updates at the end of next month so please check back and as always, feel free to contact us if you have questions about our products or, communications and finance consulting.

Have a great June!

Sincerely,

Cheyenne & Justin
